What's the comic for?

Two quick answers to get going. Next you'll tell us about the business, add who's in it, and pick from the story ideas we write.

How it works

Three steps to your comic

You know your business and what happened in it. We turn that into sixteen illustrated pages.

  1. Tell us about the business

Paste your website address and we'll read it for your name, what you do and your logo — then you correct whatever we got wrong. Or type it yourself; it's four boxes.

  2. Pick the story and the cast

Choose what the comic is for, add the people in it and what each of them is to you, and we write three story ideas from your answers. Rewrite any of them, or tell us exactly what should happen.

  3. See the cover, then decide

Your story and your real cover, drawn in your style, cost nothing. Order the digital issue or printed copies for the booth.

Four kinds of business comic

The message you keep repeating, in a form people finish

Pick who the comic is about. The story shape follows from it, and every shape asks its own questions — so nothing about the comic is generic.

What does a comic cost?

The digital comic is $25. A printed copy is $49.99 and includes the digital issue, with the price per copy falling as you order more. Nothing is charged while you build the story and the cover.

What kinds of comics can it be?

Four kinds, by who the comic is about: your story (how the company came to be, how the thing you're known for got built), your customers (the customer whose problem you fixed, your product at work), your people (a new starter's first ninety days, a near-miss on the ramp, the system nobody wanted), or a brand character. Each asks its own questions, so the comic is built from what only you know.

Do I pay to create the story and cover?

No. You enter the details, pick a story, and we draw your real cover — no payment information needed. You decide afterwards whether to buy the comic.

What happens to the photos I add?

Photos are uploaded to our storage on Amazon Web Services in the United States and kept with your comic, because they are what holds a character looking like the same character from page to page and what lets a later issue match the first. We use them to draw your comic and nothing else, we never use photos of identifiable people in our own marketing without asking, and we will delete them on request at hello@obbo.me.

Can I order a printed comic?

Yes. Printed copies are inspected by us before they ship and delivered inside the United States in about two weeks. Runs above 50 copies are quoted individually, and if you need delivery to another country, email us the country and we will tell you when we can ship there.

Can I change the story?

Yes. Choose another direction, adjust the tone, edit the title and synopsis yourself, or start the comic again. Nothing is drawn until you say go, and nothing is printed that you have not approved.

Will it look like the real people?

Every page is drawn from your story and your reference photos. It aims for a recognizable likeness, with artistic differences. Your free cover is drawn exactly the same way, so what you see on it is how the rest of the comic will look.
